Today I'm pleased to introduce you to Alice Wertz and Miriam Prantner!
Alice Wertz lives in Northern California with her husband and two cats, but she's originally from Taiwan. Though she goes by Alice, her legal name is Li-Husan. She loves Project Runway and Formula 1 Racing and is a self-professed nerd when it comes to Sherlock and science and animal shows.
Alice's love affair with paper crafting began when she started scrapbooking about 8 years ago, but before that she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. In college she took a semester class in glass blowing, and she fell in love with it. She confesses she only knows how to make wobbly tumblers, "but if it's not leaking, I'd call it good!"
Alice describes her style as sweet, fun, and colorful. She wields a super impressive Copic marker and loves primary colors and cute icons. She'd like to dabble in a little mixed media collage in the future.

This sweet bear image from the Birdie Brown Cool Day stamp set is right up Alice's alley. You can see her Copic coloring prowess, and her expert use of primary colors. Those jaunty angles at the bottom perfectly ground the design and add an element of fun!
Miriam Prantner grew up in Upstate New York as a first generation US citizen of Chinese parents. She ended up in Virgina for college where she studied Art History and History Preservation, and now she now does financial and program management for the government. Her husband teaches high school history in Arlington, VA, and they have two daughters. Cool factoid about Miriam: she plays roller hockey.
A creative soul since she can remember, Miriam's mom kept her busy with latch hook, cross stitch, and paint by number. She also used to crochet, but these days, it's paper crafting that fills her creative urges. Miriam officially entered the wonderful world of paper crafting in 2000 when she attended a Creative Memories party. Then in 2011 she discovered stamping, and the rest is history!"
Miriam describes her style as experimental, detailed, and innovative. I call her simply artistic. She has a knack for taking a product and doing something completely unexpected with it. Her patriotic spirit shows in her choices of icons like maps and stars, and she has quite a talent for mixed media projects

Miriam's card is hard evidence of her ability to take an ordinary product like a star die and take it to an extraordinary level. Her masterful use of color and inlaid die cutting matched with the movement and flow of this design produce a stellar result!
Let's give these two phenomenal ladies a warm welcome! We are SO excited to be here, and we can't wait for you to join our first sketch challenge tomorrow morning. Check back at 8 am EST for designs from the Challenge Team and to learn how YOU can participate.

Yay, I love Alice and MIriam (in a very crafty, non-creepy way, hahaha!!) Alice, I just learned to knit last week, love crochet, and took my first glass blowing class last year. Miriam, I totally forgot about latch hook! Wow, that takes me back. I made a huge lion and my Mom was nice enough to hang it up in the living room. Alice's angles at the bottom of her card are an amazing detail. Miriam, that inlaid die cutting is extraordinary!! So excited to see both of your work on this team.
ReplyDeleteYeah for your creativeness and inspiration!
