It seems like 2016 just got started, and here we are with our final sketch challenge of January. Time flies when you're getting creative, doesn't it?
Below you'll find Sketch 265. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20.
This week's sketch has a lot of action at the bottom, so Yana left a lot of white space at the top with her loose but lovely interpretation. The flag is there with the cute sentiment, and the beakers from the Chemistry Set Die-namics are placed in an imaginary square like the one in the sketch. I love how she added some girly sparkle to the images from the Undeniable Chemistry stamp set stamped in the background.
The My Favorite Things Creative Team has been busy getting creative! Let's see what they have up their sleeves for Sketch 265!
Anna Kossakovskaya turns the square into a large oval and then creates an adorable scene with some of the images from the Ewe Are the Best stamp set and Die-namics in place of the larger rectangle at the bottom of the sketch. I'm having a serious case of wanderlust and wishing for spring with this fresh and adorable design!
Barbara Anders creates a square with lovely watercolors and uses that square as a backdrop for three colorful balloons from the Birthday Bears stamp set and Die-namics. I love how she incorporated the colors of her balloons with enamel dots and an artfully designed rectangle using the Scattered Bars stencil. The bold heat embossed sentiment on plum makes an awesome impact and adds weight and balance to the bottom portion of the design.
Jodi Collins sticks pretty close to the original sketch using the Window Die-namics as the square. Her funky cat from the Cat-itude stamp set is basking in the rays of a sunny day. It's the purrrrrfect card for a wonderful friend!
Kay Miller takes the opportunity to use the square of the sketch as the holding place for a gorgeous array of feminine beauty mixing in many elements from Mini Modern Blooms to doilies, greenery, and a scalloped square. The addition of the stamped background with the lovely white space makes this design a stunner.
Laurie Willison keeps it simple with cool watercolor hues mimicking the square in the center of the sketch. With the addition of a bold black sentiment from the Arrow Greetings Die-namics, the simplicity makes this card a snap to recreate. The vellum allows the artistic background to show through.
Yoonsun Hur is feeling the chemistry in this card filled with delicious juxtaposition. By elongating the largest rectangle in the sketch, she is able to dramatically showcase her magnificent technique using the Roses All Over background stamp, and then tops it off with two beakers from the Chemistry Set Die-namics. It's not often you see roses and science lab equipment all together, but here's proof of how beautiful it can be!
