Inspiration Friday - Glitzy Gold

Welcome to the gateway to the weekend! We hope you've had an amazing week, and now it's time for some fun. Ready to get inspired? Let's do it!

This weekend movie mavens are in for a treat as the 88th Academy Awards airs on Sunday night. I have to admit the red carpet with its magnificent dresses and purses and jewelry draws me in every time, and I've even seen a few of the movies nominated this year. I will be perched on my couch watching intently.

When I think of the Oscars, I think of glitz, glamor, and most definitely gold.

Search for the word gold on Pinterest, and you'll be dazzled by the wealth of glittery images from gaudy to glorious that you'll find there. Take a look at a few of my fun finds from one such search:

And oh my GOODNESS, there was so much more. A veritable feast for the eyes! I really need to break into my metallic paper packs from My Favorite Things.

It should come as no surprise that My Favorite Things is up on this delightful trend and has several totally fabulous products that will help you take the glitz and glamor of the red carpet to your paper projects.

Keisha turns on the glitz with a shiny sentiment using the Doubly Amazing Die-namics and pairs it with pretty flowers from the Mini Modern Blooms stamp set. The stark black of her Chunky Chevron Cover-Up Die-namics background adds glamorous contrast.

Kimberly's chic and stylish card incorporates the lush Roses All Over background stamp and on trend tassels created using the Fringe Die-namics. Simple touches of metallic and sparkly gold as well as a gold embossed sentiment add to the sophistication of her design.
Sending Happy Card by Kimberly Crawford featuring the Totally Happy stamp set, the Bold Diagonal Stripes, Sketched Chevron, and Roses All Over Background stamps, and the Fishtail Flags STAX, Fringe, Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX and Stitched Scallop Edges Die-namics #mftstamps

Francine's dramatic design is elegant in its simplicity. The black card stock gets a little texture from the Double Stitched Square STAX Die-namics and her addition of an understated sentiment with the sparkly leaves using the Wild Greenery Die-namics results in a luxurious design.

If there were an Acardemy Awards, these ladies would be taking home a gold statue, don't you agree? Why don't you give the gold trend a shot this weekend?

Before you go, take a look at a few of the fabulous golden things you can buy at the My Favorite Things online store! Simply click on the photo to be taken directly to the product. If the product is currently out of stock, you can sign up for an email notification once it's back in stock!

Here's to a creative weekend!

  1. Oh how I loved that inspiration, though I think I would have difficulties eating a glittered cake. Too much experience with the real thing. Such lovely cards too, ladies.
