Inspiration Friday - Inspired by Smiles

A simple smile can brighten anyone's day and instantly make them happy, even when they're feeling down. And you know what? Taking the time in your day to laugh and smile will make you feel happier!

I think we can all agree that Elf said it best when he said - "I just like to smile - smiling's my favorite!"

Creative Construction with Blueprints: Mix it Up

MFT_CreativeConstruction_SideBar

We love Blueprints because they take the guesswork out of crafting beautiful cards (and tags!) in quick fashion when we’re short on time or inspiration. We also love them for their versatility and ability to be mixed and matched when we have the time and inspiration to create something truly unique. Our Creative Construction Challenge focuses on these attributes each month, challenging the team to either assemble a card based on one of the provided Blueprints sketches or design an original design combining elements from the featured Blueprints.

This month, join us as our team explores inventive ways of combining elements from a variety of Blueprints into one beautifully put together look. You can go clean and simple with your design or really step it up with an assortment of die cut details.

Our various Blueprints die sets have so many elements that can work together on a card design. Anna combined the stitched circle tag from the Tag Builder Blueprints 6 collection with Blueprints 31 to create a fun and unexpected, shaker surprise! The adorable hedgehog images and brick detail on the outside panel complete her sweet look.

There are so many great Blueprints elements layered together on Torico's fall-themed card including a fishtail banner from Blueprints 24 that provides the backdrop for her images. We love how she creatively cut her grass from the same fishtail banner so everything would stack perfectly behind her sweet hedgehogs. A sentiment stamped on a curved banner softens her layers and completes her darling scene.

Congratulations, Sanna! You are the randomly selected winner of last month’s Blueprints challenge.

Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 351

Welcome to another weekly Sketch Challenge!

Turn each inspiring sketch into a mini work of art to add to your stash — you could also add $50 worth of brand new MFT to your collection! Now that is a win-win.

Below you'll find Sketch 351. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher.

Heather is joining again this week with her take on the sketch.

Heather created a scene at the bottom of her card and opted for a straight horizon rather than a curved one, to incorporate the Animal Farm Fence into her design. Her punny sentiment extends across the top of the card with a twine bow to complete the look.

Karolyn put the curved edge from the sketch on the top area of her card and turned it upside down. She stamped a repeated leaf pattern to mimic the look of trees behind her Jungle Gym images.

Barbara stayed true to the sketch design and created a night sky with a large sentiment. Her secondary sentiment is stamped within the Stitched Oval Word Window opening, leaving the stitched detail around the outside edge.

You've Been Spotted - September 19, 2017

Each week we see fantastic projects featuring My Favorite Things product, and we're always so thrilled to see what our customers and followers are creating!

Today, we'd like to shine the spotlight on some awesome projects that have caught our attention in another edition of You've Been Spotted

If you see your project featured, feel free to post this image on your blog and link to this post to show the world that you were spotted by My Favorite Things!

alilovescardmaking

I love the pink, aqua and purple background that Ali created on her card.  Keeping all of her images in a similar color combination really complements her overall design.

Sarah Clark

The sweet puppy images peeking out of the windows on Sarah's card is too cute for words! The pop of red behind the images draws the eye in and helps to make the black sentiment strip stand out on her card.

Michelle Peckham

We're a fan of rainbows in any shape or size, so Michelle's card definitely caught our eye and made us smile. The repeated sentiment stamping creates a fun, colorful background with the bold, rainbow-striped word taking center stage.

Debbie Simpson

The fun color combination on Debbie's background features all the colors she used to color in her Halloween images. Adding the panel with the wonky stitching keeps her card playful and fun!

Jennifer Morley

Jennifer did a great job of creating a scene that works vertically and really fills the space on her card. Her images are perfectly placed to make the castle appear to be off in the distance.

Which design is your favorite this week? Be sure to leave these talented folks some love. And who knows? You might be spotted sometime soon!
