Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 211

What an awesome response to our first Wednesday Sketch Challenge of 2015 we had last week! It was fantastic to have so many people participate. Tell all of your friends how much fun we're having over here, OK? ;)

We're at it again this week with Sketch 211. Create a card using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20.

Our Challenge Team created some awfully inspiring cards based on Sketch 211. Let's take a look at how they interpreted it!

I love how Alice took the oval as inspiration to create a vellum pocket filled with wooden stars and sequins. It really adds to the birthday theme of her cute card!

Erin Lee completely removed the oval and replaced it with a heart, but you can see that she still stayed true to the sketch with the pink lines at the top and bottom, the flag, and the flowers in place of the heart. Remember, sketches are a jumping off point; so start there, and then see where your creativity takes you!

Jill got daring and flipped the sketch upside down! She stuck with the heart icon but removed the oval and put a tag shape in its place. Sometimes you might not have the EXACT product you need to work with a sketch, but don't let that stifle your creative process.

Oh my, Miriam! How fun to see the oval as a window, and then create a face within it! I love the masculine inspiration here with the quirky sentiment and muted color palette. Perfect for one of the guys in your life.

Vera's card probably comes closest to the sketch, but look what she did with it. The oval becomes a place to highlight the cute little creature, but instead of leaving the oval plain, she added texture with a stencil to anchor the focal image and add depth as well.

Veronica excels at layers, and this card is a testament to that. Often we start with a blank card base, but she adds interest by stamping the background and adding stitching. The heart theme remains as homage to the sketch, but as you can see, she replaced the flag from the sketch with a row of hearts to create the anchoring line in the design.

You have until Tuesday, January 20, at noon EST to add your link and be eligible for the prize of up to $20 in MFT Cash to be spent in the MFT boutique. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance! The weekly prize is a $15 Gift Voucher to My Favorite Things, but if you use MFT stamps and/or dies in your project, you’ll receive an extra $5.

We'll also be featuring cool interpretations of the sketch on the blog and giving shout outs to fun, unique, and noteworthy cards. Who knows? You might be SPOTTED! Share your cards on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook using the hashtag #mftstamps. Keep your eye out for a special blog post coming soon!

Congratulations, Emily! You are the randomly selected winner of last week’s sketch challenge. You can view all the entries for last week’s challenge HERE.

    1. I usually just drag the sketch to my desktop, open it, and then print from there - it's been working for me. Good Luck!

    2. Tina, if you right click on the image of the sketch, one of the options is print. Let me know if you need more help.

    3. Margaret, I did what you recommended and it worked, though it takes up the whole page instead of the left hand side. Thank you! Susan, if I right click to print image it wants to print 11 pages... I guess for now I will print the way Margaret suggested. Thank you, ladies.

  8. I can't seem to get my whole card in the thumbnail; it's cutting off the top and bottom. This is the first time I've had this problem. I've tried everything I can think of to no avail. Any ideas?
