Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 219

March is filled with so much promise! A few of my perennials are making an appearance, and that just makes me happy. You know what else makes me happy? You being here with us!

Below you'll find Sketch 219. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20.

We are totally stoked to have guest designer Kelly Griglione with us again this week!

When asked what she loves most about paper crafting and card making, Kelly says she loves getting an idea in her head and then seeing if she can make it work. She challenges herself to think of ways to use a product in unexpected ways rather than the obvious. "The feeling I get when satisfied with the outcome of a project is just the best!"

Let's see what clever idea she has to share with us this week!

Talk about CLEVER! Kelly placed a 2x3 photo of her son at bat in the TV and then added chipboard for stability and self-adhesive magnet to the back. The focal point becomes a fun magnet for the refrigerator. This would be such a neat gift for grandparents or a fun favor at a party.

How did our Challenge Team interpret the sketch this week? Let's check it out!

Whimsical bunnies, shiny carrots, pretty flowers, and girly bows from the Somebunny set create a totally cute panel on Alice's card. The jaunty angle of the sketch is perfect for this adorable design.

Erin always wows with color choice, and this card is no exception. She stays pretty true to the sketch, but the rounded corner appears at the bottom right rather than the top left. Her focal panel combines stamping and die cutting for an eye-catching and decidedly feminine design.

Jill flipped the sketch and embraced the angles with scallops and stitching. Her sentiment really pops with the background shadow created with the orange banner.

Miriam's card is a testament to what I love about sketches. We've seen cute, feminine, and graphic interpretations of the sketch from Alice, Erin Lee, and Jill, and now Miriam pops in with a decidedly masculine card. THAT is awesome and shows the versatility of sketches.

Vera eliminated the flag of the sketch, but by stamping the sentiment on the angle, the inspiration is still obvious. Also notice how the little girl and her doggie are resting on the seam of the two patterned papers. This allows them to both appear grounded rather than floaty.

Veronica did so many fun things with this card. I love how she created the slanted panel with the balls of yarn stamped all over to create a pattern. What an inventive way to use the little stamps in your sets! One great design tip here - the fish thought bubble hits the seam of the background and the panel giving it just the right balance.

We have a special guest with us today. Please say hello to Kathy Racoosin of The Daily Marker. Kathy loves to stamp and color, and she is hosting a 30 Day Coloring Challenge on her blog. From March 4 - April 2, she's challenging everyone to take at least 5 minutes a day to just color because practice makes perfect and creating every day is soothing.

Kathy had the chance to do some coloring with these cute MFT stamps! Check it:

Now head on over to The Daily Marker to see what else Kathy has to share, AND as an added bonus, she is doing a colorful My Favorite Things Dye Ink giveaway.
