MFT Card Challenges: Wednesday Sketch Challenge

Happy Happy December! Take a few moments to breathe during your holiday rush and see all of the inspiration that awaits you.

Below you'll find Sketch 257. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20.

Let's give a warm and hearty welcome to our December Guest Designer for the MFT Challenge and Inspiration blog, Amber Kemp-Gerstel!

While Amber spends her nine to fives as Dr. Amber — a child psychologist working with kids, teens and families faced with emotional and behavioral challenges, it's after hours when she gets her craft on. She does make cards, but she's turned into quite a DIY Diva (and I mean that in the very nicest of ways)! If you are on Snapchat, be sure to add her for all sorts of crafty fun and foolishness. You won't regret it!

Let's see how Amber interpreted her first sketch with us this month:

You Can Count On Me Card by Amber Kemp-Gerstel featuring the Encouraging Words stamp set #mftstamps

Amber admittedly takes a rather interpretive approach to the sketch, but around these parts we applaud that! It shows innovation. The card's focal point is the sentiment from the Encouraging Words stamp set in perky Persimmon. I love how that little pink banner adds an awesome pop of color!

The Challenge Team is at it again with inspiring creations. Let's see how they interpreted Sketch 257!

Mugs of Thanks Card by Alice Wertz featuring the Birdie Brown Merry Christmoose stamp set and Die-namics and the Laina Lamb Design Hug in a Mug stamp set #mftstamps

Alice uses two patterned paper panels for the basis of the sketch, but she turns it upside down replacing the circle in the sketch with the mugs from the Merry Christmoose set. I love how she angled the sentiment to match the angle of the tilted panel.

You Amaze Me Card by Erin Lee Schreiner featuring the Lisa Johnson Designs For the Boys stamp set and Scribble Roses Overlay Die-namics and the Blueprints 22 Die-namics #mftstamps

With the help of our Blueprints 22 Die-namics and its dotted panel, Erin is able to closely mimic the sketch. As always, her bold color choices set against classic black and white make this card a standout.

Festive London Mice Card by Jill Dewey Hawkins featuring the London Mouse, Snowflake Flurry, and Laina Lamb Design Hug in a Mug stamp sets #mftstamps

Jill strays from the sketch a bit, but the flag and focal point (three very festive mice from the London Mouse stamp set) are there. I love the idea of taking any of our character stamps and giving them little tweaks to create a holiday themed card. Must do this!

Jolly Elf Card by Miriam Prantner featuring the Hand Lettered Holiday stamp set and the Birdie Brown Santa's Elves stamp set and Die-namics #mftstamps

Miriam's margins are just like the sketch, but the dotted panel becomes a flag, and a festive elf from the Santa's Elves set takes the place of the circle. I love how she paired the gorgeous Hand Lettered Holiday stamp set with the cute elf. Very fun!

Toasty Moose Card by Vera Wirianta Yates featuring the Hand Lettered Holiday stamp set, Birdie Brown Merry Christmoose stamp set and Die-namics, and the Boutique Window Die-namics #mftstamps

Vera sees the panel as a window peeking out onto a snowy landscape. Mr. Merry Moose doesn't seem to mind, since he's inside kicking back with a warm cup of cocoa. I think I'd like to join him (and I might add a dash of peppermint schnapps!). ;)

Mugs and Kisses Card by Veronica Zalis featuing the Laina Lamb Design Hug in a Mug stamp set and Hot Cocoa Die-namics, Gingham Background stamp, and Blueprints 22 Die-namics #mftstamps

Veronica uses the dotted panel from Blueprints 22 as well. It looks pretty nifty on that wooden paper! Her focal point is a tasty cup of cocoa paired with a perfectly fitting sentiment from the Hug in a Mug stamp set. And the Gingham background stamp gives her design a perfectly homey feel.
