Happy National Wear Red Day! If you haven't gotten dressed yet, make sure to wear something red.
Sponsored by the American Heart Association and Go Red For Women, National Wear Red Day is always the first Friday in February. The intention is to bring awareness to prevent heart disease and stroke. Heart disease and stroke kill 1 in 3 women, yet it's 80% preventable.
My mom had a heart attack in the summer of 1990, so this day has great significance for me. I'm happy to report that she is alive and well at 80 years old! She has a red dress that she loves, and isn't she just the cutest? She sat for this photo last summer for a Gorgeous Grandma contest.
If you want to donate to the cause, you can do so HERE.
To celebrate the day, I have a bevy of projects that feature red. Enjoy the inspiration, and then make something red to celebrate!
Sometimes just a pop of red is all that you need to make a statement. Our Stitched Heart STAX Die-namics are the perfect choice!
Yoonsun combined two shades of red using the So Much Love stamp set. That little crimson bow from the Creative Clips Die-namics is so fabulous!
Two large red hearts and an adorable polka dotted one pump up the cute factor with this sweet design in pink and red using the I Heart You stamp set.
Barbara adds splashes of red with a bit of sparkle and black for this sophisticated design. The Mini Heart Background stamp is simply delightful when dipped in red ink!
Kay makes a bold statement in red with a tag created with the Tag Builder Blueprints 5 Die-namics. The tone on tone stamping with the Mini Hearts Background stamp is so great!
Gorgeous red flowers created with the Sketched Blooms stamp set look so very pretty!
And finally, an in your face redder than red card. I'm obsessed with the buffalo check coffee cup that Karolyn created with our Gingham Background stamp. SO trendy!
At My Favorite Things, you'll find the perfect shade of red for whatever it is that you want to create. Check out the array of red products that you can find in our shop!
Why not create something red to celebrate? Be sure to use #mftstamps when you post your creations on social media! We'd love to see what you make.
Here's to a creative weekend!

ReplyDeleteLove it and your mom is adorable.
ReplyDeleteLove every single project! I was so proud (of myself) that I recognized your mom right away. She looks beautiful in her red, and I am so glad for you all, that she is still here celebrating life with you, your dad an the rest of your family.
ReplyDeleteHow happy it made me to pop on to this blog post and see your adorable mommy first thing!! All of the projects posted were spectacular! And something funny...I own probably 4 red sweaters and I RARELY wear them because I feel like they make me look washed out. Today was a jeans and sweater day due to a small snow storm this morning so without even knowing it was WEAR RED day, I chose a red sweater! I found out about it being wear red day when I got to work and saw an abundance of people wearing red sweaters And even some PANTS! I intend to create something RED this weekend as well!

ReplyDeleteAlthough I have never met your Mom I feel like I know her from all of the love you show her via your blog posts. She's a beautiful woman. Can you believe that I do not have a single article of clothing in my closet that is red? Nothing...not even red socks! Guess I need to remedy that issue the next time I go shopping for next year.
ReplyDeleteI have a bevy of red hearts to deliver for this post! <3 <3 Cutie Mom O!! :) Superstar!! ;)
