Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 241

It's Wednesday again. Funny how that happens every week. ;) We're glad to have you here with us to celebrate with some cool creativity!

Below you'll find Sketch 241. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20.

Danielle Flanders is here again this week as our August Guest Designer! What a delight to have her contribution with our weekly sketches, don't you agree?

Danielle is a former K-8th elementary teacher and holds a BS in Speech Pathology and Audiology. I know from experience that life as a school teacher gives you a certain stamina that is unbelievable. Obviously, taking time to create is a way to combat a hectic lifestyle. It's the process of letting your mind wander and using your hands to make something pretty that can sooth our busy lives. Thank you for your time spent in the classroom, Danielle!

Let's look at how Danielle interpreted this week's sketch:

Danielle scared up a fun rendition of the sketch using the brand new Frightfully Fun Halloween stamp set and Die-namics. In place of the stars, there's a cave full of bats, but somehow with the lavendar polka dot circle, they don't seem at all scary. I love her tone on tone use of the Four Way Chevron Cover-Up Die-namics!

The Challenge Team is at it again with inspiring creations. Let's see how they interpreted Sketch 241!

Alice turned the sketch into a long thin card and used an oval instead of the circle in the sketch. The sweet flowers take the place of the stars, and the oval is the perfect spot for an interactive shaker card. The images from the Polynesian Paradise are just so much FUN.

Erin Lee created a pretty shaker card, too, with the help of some statement making Die-namics — Brushstroke Birthday Greetings, Lucky Stars, and the Stitched Circle Frames.

Jill saw the circle as the perfect spot for a bold sentiment, and a juicy array of inlaid roses flourish on the neutral background. Instead of the sentiment on the horizontal strip, the bold green line creates a sense of balance in her design.

Miriam took the sketch at face value and created a gorgeous starry night featuring several products from our Count the Stars series. I love how she created depth for her nighttime sky with the combination of stamped and die cut stars.

Vera saw the circle of the sketch as a way to feature one of the fabulous birds from the Birds of Paradise stamp set. Her gorgeously colored bird set inside the scalloped circle window make for a delightful tropical hello.

Veronica super-sized the circle to create this absolutely ADORABLE beach scene with our sweet girl dancing on the beach with waves in the distance and a regal palm tree giving her shade. The circle is a great place to create a scene with your favorite stamps and dies!

You've Been Spotted - August 11, 2015

Each week we see fantastic projects featuring My Favorite Things product, and we're always so thrilled to see what our customers and followers are creating!

Lindsay Amrhein

I spotted this gorgeous card by Lindsay on Facebook. She created it for a color challenge. I absolutely love how she clustered the pretty flowers she stamped and die-cut using our Modern Blooms stamp set and Die-namics! And the white sentiment on kraft feels so fresh.

Ardyth Percy-Robb

Design Team Member Teri Anderson spotted this cutie by Ardyth. Ardyth used the thick green line on the right side of her design to ground the piggy peeking around the wall. Teri says, "This card gets right to the point with the clean and graphic nature. Sending a big high 5, Ardyth!"

EunJi Jung

Challenge Team member Alice Wertz spotted EunJi's happy card as an entry for Wednesday Sketch Challenge 238. EunJi had fun playing with the Somebunny stamp set released earlier this year. Alice says, "Sweet as can be and the background is so fun!"

Shemaine Smith

Challenge Team member Jill Dewey Hawkins spotted this lovely creation by Shemaine as an entry for Sketch 237.  In Jill's words, "Simple, bold, cute, delightful. :)"

Michelle Short

Design Team Member Kay Miller found this adorable card from Michelle using the Things with Wings stamp set. Michelle quipped in her blog post, "I knew it wouldn't be long before I busted [this stamp set] out, it is just so cute!" Kay says, "I love the beautiful simplicity of this one layer card by Michelle and her sponged background is perfection!"

Thanks for using MFT, ladies! You've left us inspired, and that's what it's all about!
