Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 218

Did March come in like a lamb or a lion for you? No matter the weather, it's important to find time to create!

Below you'll find Sketch 218. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20.

Now that March is here, it's our pleasure to introduce our March 2015 MFT Challenge & Inspiration Blog Guest Designer! Say hello to the talented Kelly Griglione!

Kelly has fond memories of crafting at her grandmother's kitchen table many moons ago, so she considers herself a life-long creative soul. But now her passion is paper — collecting it in the form of 19th century Valentines and post cards and making things with it like cards, scrapbook pages, and home decor.

Throughout this month you will see that Kelly has a unique and distinctive style. What she does best is take a product and then do something unexpected with it. Let's take a look at how Kelly interpreted Sketch 218!

Kelly's focus went directly to the point on the right hand of the sketch. She made this gift pocket from a holey pair of her son's jeans that she was about to throw out. The circle in the sketch is there as well as some flags hearkening to the line. Pretty cool MFT Challenge blog debut, eh?

What has the talented Challenge Team been up to? Let's check it out, shall we?

Alice rotated the sketch in the same way that Kelly did, but instead of a point, she used a curve at the bottom of her card. The circle became a heart for the cute little bunny, and colorful banners anchor the focal image. My favorite part, though? That wooden dot on the "seam" of the card base and the dotted paper. It adds the perfect weight to the sentiment.

Erin stayed true to the sketch and inked up the brand new Woof You set from the March release. She colored up those little cuties and made them the star of the show on her card.

Jill took a cool and catawampus approach with the sketch. The point is inverted, the sentiment is the line, and the brand new Television Die-namics becomes the focal point. And OH MY GOODNESS - did you see the tin foil on the rabbit ears? That just whisked me back to my childhood.

I love Miriam's little mash up of one of the doggies in the brand new You Make My Tail Wag set and the donut from last month's release. Her color combo is perfect, and take a look at the paw print background.

Not surprisingly, our doggie loving Vera saw the point in the sketch as the peak of the brand new Dog House Die-namics. Her clever sentiment placement is inspired by the sketch as well.

Veronica kept true to the sketch yet added her signature layers for interest and depth. Instead of the circle of the sketch, she gathered a glorious bouquet of flowers using the brand new Circle Scribble Flowers. Such a fun color combination, too!

Congratulations, Zehra! You are the randomly selected winner of last week’s sketch challenge. You can view all the entries for last week’s challenge HERE.

  9. Something when wrong when I linked my card. The thumbnail shows the correct card, but it doesn't link to the correct card if you click. I can't seem to fix it either.
