Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 231

It's been a fun week on the blog so far! We hope you're enjoying our collaboration with Simple Stories. We'll be back with more in the next few days...

As the summer ramps up, we're so glad to have you here. Grab a tall glass of cool lemonade and enjoy the inspiration you'll get from this week's projects.

Below you'll find Sketch 231. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20.

Let's give a hearty aloha to our June Guest Designer, Joscelyne Cutchens!

Joscelyne is a well-rounded crafter, to say the least! She has dabbled in handmade papers, sewing, screen printing, bookmaking, and beading, but her true passions are photography, computers, and paper crafts. Because of her love for computers, she considers herself a hybrid crafter, melding digital and paper designs. We are excited to see what she does with the fine products from My Favorite Things!

Joscelyne's first foray into MFT-land yielded some pretty cute results! Let's take a look:

Best of Luck Card by Joscelyne Cutchens featuring the Birdie Brown Adventure is Calling stamp set and Zig Zag Stitched Oval STAX Die-namics

Joscie features the sweet little Birdie Brown traveler from the brand spanking new (just released last night!) Adventure is Calling stamp set. In place of the rounded rectangle, she used an oval which gives the card a soft feel. I love how she stitched the vellum sentiment onto the card complementing the sweetness of this design.

The Challenge Team never fails to inspire. Let's see what they've been cooking up in their craft rooms!

You're the Coolest Card by Alice Wertz featuring the Birdie Brown Penguins in Paradise stamp set and Die-namics

Alice keeps her design pretty true to the sketch featuring the oh-so-CUTE penguin from the brand new Penguins in Paradise stamp set and Die-namics. And ohmygoodness! Those orange swim trunks are KILLING me.

Colorful Miss You Card by Erin Lee Schreiner featuring the Written in Watercolor stamp set and Abstract Cover-Up Die-namics

Erin Lee focused on a fabulous background using the SUPER NEW Abstract Cover-Up Die-namics. She used a circle instead of a rounded rectangle and shrank it a bit, but the horizontal line is still there pulling everything together perfectly!

Begin With Yourself Circle Card by Jill Dewey Hawkins featuring the Laina Lamb Designs Count the Stars stamp set and the Stitched Circle Frames and Abstract Cover-up Die-namics

Jill, our resident Die-namics dynamo (<-- see what I did there?), cranked out this colorful circular beauty. While this doesn't look a lot like the sketch, that's really A-OK! In the throes of creativity, we often take a left turn into awesome.

Too Soon to Miss You Card by MIriam Prantner featuring the Birdie Brown Adventure is Calling stamp set

Miriam did a lovely job coloring the wistful ginger-haired cutie from the Adventure is Calling stamp set in her rather direct interpretation of the sketch. I love the subtle map in the background that complements the theme of the card. And that little bunny? SO cute.

Penguin Cheers Card by Vera Wirianta Yates featuring the Birdie Brown Penguins in Paradise stamp set and Die-namics and the Cross-Stitch Circle STAX Die-namics

Vera was adventurous and flipped the sketch on its side. And, honestly, when there's an awesome penguin hoisting a tropical drink, things are bound to get crazy! I love how the palm tree became the horizontal line of the sketch when it was turned on its side.

Better With Friends Card by Veronica Zalis featuring the Laina Lamb Designs Tickled Pink stamp set, Lace Background stamp, and Watercolor Flowers stamp set and Die-namics

Veronica created a beauty of a card featuring the glorious brand new Watercolor Flowers stamp set and Die-namics and the Lace Background stamp. Her stamping and textures create such lovely depth in this design, and her color choices are seriously top-notch!

Make sure to check out these posts from Monday and Tuesday! Leave a comment on all of the MFT/SS posts for your chance to win a $50 MFT voucher.
