We're thrilled to introduce you to our talented July Guest Designer for the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog. Say hello to Kalyn Kepner!
As a millennial (a super smart and stylish one at that!), Kalyn brings a fresh and youthful joy to her designs. But don't be fooled by her age. She's an old soul at heart with a love for sweet, pretty, and vintage touches. She started making cards seven years ago at the ripe old age of 20, and I've been fortunate to watch her card designs blossom since the very beginning.
Let's look at how Kalyn interpreted her very first sketch as guest designer:
Kalyn went for a very literal interpretation showcasing new, not yet available product for July first revealed yesterday on this post on Instagram. Her pretty color combination makes this card something to celebrate!
The Challenge Team had a lot of fun with this one. Let's see how they interpreted Sketch 235!
Alice took all of the elements of the sketch but shifted the placement of the elements to the left and up. Pairing the Geek is Chic and The Whole Herd stamp sets and Die-namics makes for an adorable and totally hilarious design!
Jill shrank the sketch to a square and tilted the vertical panel for a strong and funky card. Cool details like stamping a background on the frame and her signature wonky stitching make for a bold design. Her powerful sentiment is the perfect finishing touch.
Miriam chose a direct interpretation of the sketch, but what really stands out to me on this one is her color choice. With the sentiment she chose, the monochromatic and muted hues set the tone for a more serious and somewhat melancholy reason to send a card. And that donut still looks super delicious!
Vera widened the main panel and chose juicy, summery colors for her card. And that penguin looks like he's ready for one HECK of a good time. Am I right? I love how he is standing on the sentiment like a boss.
We'll also occasionally feature cool interpretations of the sketch on the blog and give shout outs to fun, unique, and noteworthy projects. Who knows? You might be SPOTTED! Share your cards on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook using the hashtag #mftstamps.
