Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 236

It feels like summer is hurtling by at breakneck speed! Slow things down today by getting creative with this week's sketch.

Below you'll find Sketch 236. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20.

Our talented July Guest Designer Kalyn Kepner is back again with us this week! She has a super sweet project to share, but first I want to tell you a little more about Miss Kalyn.

If you like crafty videos, I'm pretty sure you'll love Kalyn's YouTube Channel. She has a knack for putting her viewers at ease, and her pleasant and easy -to-follow tutorials are a fun way to learn new techniques. Kalyn shares her sources of inspiration, too. By the way, if you love videos, make sure to follow the official My Favorite Things YouTube Channel HERE!

Let's look at how Kalyn interpreted this week's sketch:

Hello Birdies Card by Kalyn Kepner featuring the Things With WIngs stamp set and Die-namics #mftstamps

Kalyn created a pretty little card using the Brand Spankin' New Things with Wings stamp set and Die-namics. She sticks pretty closely to the sketch with a rounded panel, circle, and notched flag. Her repeated sentiment draws the eye across the bottom of the card like the line in the sketch.

The Challenge Team had a lot of fun with this one. Let's see how they interpreted Sketch 236!

Pretty Birthday Card by Alice Wertz featuring the Flutter of Butterflies-Lace, Tag Builder Blueprints 3, and Cross-Stitch Circle STAX Die-namics #mftstamps

Oooh la la — Alice's gold butterfly has me positively SWOONING. Placed on a circle to ground it and a smart black and white stripe die cut using the pretty scalloped rectangle from the Tag Builder Blueprints 3 Die-namics, Alice makes the buttefly almost come alive.

Cheery Chill Card by Erin Lee Schreiner featuring the Birdie Brown Penguins in Paradise stamp set and Die-namics, and the Stitched Rounded Rectangle STAX and High-Rise Alphabet Uppercase Die-namics #mftstamps

Erin Lee rocks the Die-namics and features our cute little pudgy penguin pal in this cheery card. I love the bold statement she makes for the word chill by using the High-Rise Alphabet as part of the sentiment.

Wish Big Birthday Shaker Card by Jill Dewey Hawkins featuring the Brushstroke Birthday stamp set and the Blueprints 26 Die-namics #mftstamps

Jill envisioned a shaker card when she looked at the sketch. Her use of the brand new Blueprints 26 Die-namics makes for a super fun and cute interactive card. I mean a balloon filled with stars... what could be more festive?

Can't Bear to Be WIthout You Card by Miriam Prantner featuring the Birdie Brown Birthday Bears stamp set and Die-namics #mftstamps

Miriam wanted to feature the new Birthday Bears stamp set and Die-namics, and what a sweet card it is. I love how the background is super colorful, but instead of taking away from the bear, it gives a certain serenity to him furthering the wistfulness of the sentiment. Her shading on the circle gives the bear a place to "sit" so that it doesn't appear that he is floating.

Beary Special Day Card by Vera Wirianta Yates featuring the Birdie Brown Birthday Bears stamp set and DIe-namics and the Blueprints 20 Die-namics

Vera experimented with the sketch and eliminated the circle and the line at the bottom, but she still has the panel and the flag. Though her bear is the exact same one that Miriam used, her treatment of it is very different. I LOVE that the same stamp can be used in many ways. And how adorable is that cluster of pastel balloons?

Cheery Birthday Balloons Card by Veronica Zalis featuring the Blueprints 26 Die-namics #mftstamps

Veronica went to town with the new Blueprints 26 (the same one that Jill used to create her shaker card above), but just LOOK at the versatility! Her background stamping really creates such depth to her card base and card stock panel, and she ROCKS the brand new patterned papers from MFT!
