Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 248

The calendar says it's almost October, but here at the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog it's always time to get creative. Come join us as we make beautiful handmade things with a simple sketch as inspiration!

Below you'll find Sketch 248. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20.

A big thank you to Lindsay Amrhein our September Guest Designer. Her simple and colorful cards are such a delight, and her design sense is pretty spot on, too. If you've enjoyed seeing Lindsay's creations, be sure to subscribe to her blog Note to Self (and subscribe to this blog as well!). As much as she loves My Favorite Things, I'm sure you'll find more designs from her that you'll love there.

Next week we will see what our October guest designer has up her sleeve, but if you want to get a sneak peek of who she is, please join us RIGHT HERE on Saturday for World Card Making Day!

Our mystery guest designer will be joining the Challenge Team and me for one heck of a party this Saturday starting at 4 am EDT and every two hours thereafter until 8 pm. Inspiration. Tips. PRIZES. So. Many. Prizes.

Now let's get down to business and see how Lindsay interpreted this week's sketch:

London Tour Card by Lindsay Amrhein featuring the London Mouse stamp set and Die-namics and the London Skyline and Rolling HIlls Die-namics #mftstamps

Lindsay rounds the corners on her colorful panel like the sketch, but it's her use of the Rolling Hills Die-namics that stands in for the strip of the sketch. I love how she modified the die cut (which is a fence) to look like a road for her saturated double decker bus from the London Mouse stamp set.

The Challenge Team is at it again with inspiring creations. Let's see how they interpreted Sketch 248!

Happy London Hello Card by Alice Wertz featuring the London Mouse stamp set and Die-namics and the Label Maker Sentiments stamp set and Label Tape Die-namics #mftstamps

Alice saw the sketch as the perfect place to create a whimsical scene using the London Mouse stamp set and Die-namics. Her treatment of the scene is reminiscent of the cover of Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things That Go, don't you agree?

Hip Hip Hooray Card by Erin Lee Schreiner featuring the Birthday Chalkboard Greetings stamp set and London Mouse stamp set and Die-namics #mftstamps

Erin Lee sticks closely to the sketch with her rounded square, sentiment strip, and enamel dots in place of the stars in the sketch. The little London Tower Guardsmice look bloody excited for someone's birthday!

Really, Card by Jill Dewey Hawkins featuring the Thanks so Very Much stamp set and Pierced Square Frames Die-namics #mftstamps

Jill takes the sketch in an angular direction with this eye-catching design! It's mostly white, but her three juicy colors of card stock steal the show with her inventive use of the Pierced Square Frames Die-namics. A few wonky stitches. A bold sentiment. A whole lot of #bam.

Stay Focused Card by Miriam Prantner featuring the Laina Lamb Designs Geek is Chic stamp set and Geek is Chic Glasses Die-namics #mftstamps

Miriam plays with patterned paper expertly in her rendition of this week's sketch. Do you see how she lined up the chevron patterns in her patterned paper to create a diamond? It's little details like that that take a design from good to great!

London Happy Card by Vera Wirianta Yates featuring the Totally Happy stamp set and the London Mouse stamp set and Die-namics #mftstamps

Vera went all out with her card for this week's sketch! Using the London Mouse stamp set, she created a fun view of the city as if it were being seen through a window. Beneath the window is her coordinating sentiment, and it's all set against a brick wall created with the fittingly named English Brick Wall stencil. But wait! There's more! As you can see from the photograph at the left, Vera's card has an extra surprise inside the flap that she created using the Interactive Window STAX Die-namics. How totally fun is that?

From My Barn to Yours Card by Veronica Zalis featuring the Birdie Brown The Whole Herd stamp set and Die-namics, Miss Tiina Things with Wings stamp set and Die-namics, and the Barn Die-namics #mftstamps

Say hello to Veronica's adorable card inspired by this week's sketch. In the square, she saw a barn, and so she stamped, colored, and cut Mr. Moo and Miss Cluck to welcome us to a little hoe-down. Instead of stars in the top left like the sketch, she used the adorable sun from the Things with Wings stamp set. Toss in gingham, stitching, and rolling hills, and you've got one super charming design!

Congratulations, Sandi Pressley! You are the randomly selected winner of last week’s sketch challenge. You can view all the entries for last week’s challenge HERE.
