Since I love geography, we'll be seeing the Challenge Team throughout the day based on their location in the United States from east to west! Say hello to Jill Dewey Hawkins who hails from the Chicagoland area.
This is the third of nine posts on this blog today (every two hours from 4 am EDT to 8 pm EDT) where the MFT Challenge & Inspiration Team and our October Guest Designer (you'll get to meet her at 2 pm!) will share Christmas and holiday cards and tips.
On each post, we'll be offering AWESOME prizes including My Favorite Things holiday favorites from the past as well as brand spanking new products from the October release that won't be available until next Tuesday. Yep, this is your chance for a sneak peek! Details for how you can get your to chance to win can be found later on in this post.
Let's take a look at Jill's card!
Let's see what Jill has to say:
"As a cardmaker, there is nothing more exciting than a mailbox of smiles, for a full month! Greeting cards, photos, letters: Friendships, Family & Love. It's such a welcome relief from the usual blah in there. It’s also the time I feel most like a cardmaking failure.
"I have always spent a lot of energy on our family's holiday greetings. For a few years, I was successful at making everyone handmade holiday greetings. This is when the holiday crazy train became further derailed. Unless, that is, I started in July. I was successful at July a total of...wait for it...Once.
"The evolved plan of keeping holiday sanity is: Handmade Holiday Thank You notes. This cuts down on the mass production feel and keeps them personal and fun. While I believe thank you notes should be sent promptly, the definition of promptly has evolved, just as life has. Let's face it, the weeks leading up to the holidays are crazysauce. But the weeks after feel less rushed. No school, work is typically slower, less errands to run...just less. Maybe some time to craft a few more seasonal cards?
"So, if you're like me and feel like a card making failure for sending out printed photo holiday greetings (which I secretly enjoy), fear not! Send out handfuls of handmade gratitude after the holiday rush! It keeps your crazysauce on the shelf and keeps the love in their mailboxes a little longer. Everybody wins! :)
"Pssst...The backup to this backup plan: Send handmade Valentines. Nothing is more unexpected than some February mailbox love. Snowflakes are still falling in February. Just sayin’. Wink wink. Keepin' it real, crafty comrades. Enjoy! :)"
