Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 254

Snow is softly falling outside my window in Utah right now, and I'm feeling all snuggly and excited for the holidays! It makes me feel creative, and I hope you're feeling the same way, too!

Below you'll find Sketch 254. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20.

Say hello again to our November Guest Designer for the MFT Challenge and Inspiration blog, Latisha Yoast!

Latisha juggles a busy lifestyle designing pretty things and looking after and raising two fantastic teenagers with her husband Jess who is a US Navy Helicopter Pilot. When her husband deploys, Latisha makes sure to tuck mini albums she's created in his things with pictures and sentiments to keep him company during the long months away, and she'll also send along bunches of handmade cards for the servicemen and women working with him to share with their families back home. It's those little handmade pieces created with love that can help ease the homesickness even just a tiny bit.

Let's see how Latisha interpreted this week's sketch!

Sweet Warm Wishes Card by Latisha Yoast featuring the Birdie Brown Toasty Greetings stamp set and the Chunky Chevron Cover-up Die-namics #mftstamps

Latisha takes an adorable approach to this week's sketch with a delightful pastel concoction filled with sweetness. With a monochromatic background created using the brand new Chunky Chevron Cover-Up Die-namics, she sets the stage to feature our cute penguin pal as the focal point. I love the soft and pretty touch the frothy ribbon adds to this design!

The Challenge Team is at it again with inspiring creations. Let's see how they interpreted Sketch 254!

Warm Hugs Christmoose Card by Alice Wertz featuring the Birdie Brown Merry Christmoose stamp set and Die-namics #mftstamps

Alice creates a monochromatic background, too, but hers uses the Wonky Chevron stencil for some fun dimension. Mr. Moose from the Merry Christmoose stamp set looks comfy cozy with something warm to drink as the focal point of this design. Fun strips of washi tape are the quick and perfect solution for the angles at the top of the sketch!

Peace Card by Erin Lee Schreiner featuring the Winter Warmth stamp set and Die-namics and the Peace, Love, Joy and Blueprints 25 Die-namics #mftstamps

Erin Lee uses unconventional shades of red and green for her striking card design. The long banners from Blueprints 25 are a perfect fit for this sketch! Her addition of copper sparkle and a simple sentiment make for an uncomplicated yet oh-so-lovely Christmas greeting!
Snuggle Up Card by Jill Dewey Hawkins featuring the Let's Get Cozy stamp set, Laina Lamb Design Hot Cocoa Cups and Blueprints 25 Die-namics #mftstamps

Jill turns the sketch on its side to maximize the repetition of her new favorite sentiment from the Let's Get Cozy stamp set. And the snuggles get even more delicious with a mug of cocoa created with the super cute Hot Cocoa Cups Die-namics. I love how finished this card looks with the double die cutting that Jill does!

Shake it Off Card by Miriam Prantner featuring the Top Dog stamp set and Die-namics #mftstamps

Miriam uses the angles at the top of the sketch as a blue sky. Very creative! I love how the cloud from the Top Dog stamp set is nestled in the intersection of her various shades of blue. Also fitting is her color choice for the sentiment of the card and the wistful look on the doggie's face.

Knowing You Card by Vera Wirianta Yates featuring the Top Dog stamp set and Die-namics #mftstamps

Vera turns the sketch upside down to give her pup a stage on which to stand. The angle of the sentiment and the dog walking toward it give her design movement and energy. The jumble of the bones (found in the Top Dog stamp set) are a fun detail that I need to mimic sometime soon!

Cute Christmas Bears Card by Veronica Zalis featuring the Birdie Brown Birthday Bears and Lisa Johnson Designs Trim the Tree stamp sets and Die-namics and the Winter Waves and Star Celebration background stamps #mftstamps

Veronica also turns the sketch upside down, but her angles become snowdrifts, setting the scene for two polar bears sharing a Christmas moment. I love how she uses the Birthday Bears stamp set and pairs it with a sentiment, gift, and snowflakes from the Trim the Tree stamp set. It's creative uses of stamp sets like this that make me cheer! And don't even get me started on that delightful sliver of silver sparkle. SO pretty!
