Sketch challenges are a great way to use up stash, try new techniques, and push your creativity beyond a blank piece of cardstock. No overthinking — just created for creative growth! ✂️💌

Each week we provide a fresh sketch or color challenge — a simple visual recipe — to help guide your card design. You can follow this sketch exactly, flip it, mirror it, or interpret it in your own unique way. The goal is to have FUN and create something you’ll love!

We are So Happy To Host Challenges Again!

Oh my goodness! I've really been excited about the beginning of this, a lot of the reason is that so many things had to happen to get us to the place where we could, like moving a 16,000 sq. ft. building for one, and other numerous whoppers, but we are HERE! The very first of our revamped challenges!

One of the things I'd really hoped to get done was to get this blog up to snuff, but I haven't been able to do it yet. I'm not able to edit the actual template like I can on other blogs, so it may just need to be redesigned. However, I know if I wait until the most perfect time, that time will never come. And we're here to look at the eye candy anyway, am I right??

I think Deborah picked the most perfect first Sketch Challenge ever. Don't you agree? Your only limits are to include some MFT products in your card, and upload it here by noon EST on Monday, February 9. On the 10th, we will post the winner from the previous week and a new challenge. 

We will be rotating our challenges alternating between Sketch Challenges and Color Challenges, and as usual the AMAZINGLY talented Deborah Hellman is helping us out with that.

Guys, I'm so looking forward to what this year will bring and I truly pray it brings each of us peace. I feel I could use a big, huge, exhale right now. Have a beautiful week and get crafty!

MFT 2018 Creative Olympics | Event #4 - Speed Cardmaking

Welcome back to the My Favorite Things Olympic Village - we're so excited to have you joining us here for the fourth and final event of the MFT 2018 Creative Olympics! 

Just like the Olympics, crafting brings people together. We can’t wait to spend the next two weeks bringing the competition right to your home. Compete with your fellow cardmakers, feel pride in the cards you create in response to each event, and maybe even walk away from the 2018 Creative Olympics with a medal!

If you need some inspiration…some examples of grit, determination, and stamina as you tackle each event, turn on the PyeongChang games to watch as you compete — I know that’s what we’ll be doing in the weeks to come!

THE VENUES
We have a number of venues for you to visit over the course of this epic event. You’ll find events and activities at each so make sure you visit them all — you don’t want to miss a single event!

Olympic Stadium — Our main blog is your home base. You’ll be able to participate in challenges shared February 9 and February 14, and our medal ceremony will be held there on February 22, as well.

Olympic Village — Our Challenge & Inspiration Blog will host two events as well, ending with today's. Make sure you check out the second event that was hosted here on February 12th.

Olympic Park — Meet up on our Facebook page to mix and mingle with fellow Olympians and participate in Q&As about your impressive training regimen. 

THE MEDALS

It wouldn’t be the Olympics without the iconic medals! We have a stash ready and waiting to be bestowed upon our event winners.

Gold medal: $100 MFT Voucher — One winner randomly selected from participants that complete all 4 events.

Silver medals: $50 MFT Voucher — One winner randomly selected from each event.

Bronze medals: $15 MFT Voucher — Winners randomly selected from Olympic Park Q&A events.

RULES & REGULATIONS

• Create brand new/original cards. Previously posted cards will not be considered. There is no limit to the number of entries you submit for each event.
• Use stamps, Die-namics, stencils, and patterned papers from My Favorite Things. Cards using other products will be disqualified immediately, so get creative with the MFT products that you have on hand! Use whatever card stock and inks you have available.
• Submit your card(s) to the InLinkz collection found at the end (the finish line!) of each event post on or before 10 PM EST on Monday, February 19.
• When submitting your card, please simply use your name in the Link Title section.
• International entries are most DEFINITELY welcome!

All winners will be announced at our Closing Ceremony on Thursday, February 22, so make sure to check our main blog to see if you are one of our medalists!

EVENT4

 
The Speed Cardmaking event will push your creative limits to the edge and deliver speed and resilience that you didn't even know you had! Grab your phone, set your stove timer or have one of you family members watch the clock - you have exactly 20 minutes to complete a card from start to finish. It can be any theme and use any MFT products - this event is all about speed. 

Stephanie created a winter themed card to correlate with the winter games and completed the event with 23 seconds to spare - take a look at this photo finish:

We caught up with her after the event to get her thoughts on how difficult it was and where she feels she could have improved. Here's what she had to say:

MFT Reporter: Was there any time during the creation of your card that you didn't think you were going to finish the event on time? 

Stephanie: Absolutely! I started off at a really good pace, but as I stamped and die cut, I realized I had already lost 5 minutes, and I hadn't even started the coloring. I really had to focus and limit my color choices to save time.

MFT Reporter: Do you think you put too much pressure on yourself and attempted a card design that was a bit too difficult? 

Stephanie: No, not at all. I really wanted to push myself creatively and I knew that attempting a design at an advanced level would make me work harder and push me to succeed.

MFT Reporter: Lastly, is there anything you would have done differently if you could do it over again?

Stephanie: Definitely be more prepared. I didn't have my supplies ready, and I ended up wasting time searching for card stock colors and basic supplies. I would definitely make sure I had a better game plan next time.

There's Still Time - Color Challenge 49

Today we are announcing the randomly selected winner of the MFT 10th Birthday Celebration Bonus Challenge! But before we get to that, check this out!

There's still time to participate in Color Challenge 49! Remember, you don't have to have the EXACT colors to play. Just use colors inspired by the ones you see below. 

Add in touches of neutrals like white, black, or kraft, but challenge yourself to incorporate all four of the colors. 

This challenge features nautical colors to inspire you — Cherry Crisp, Blu Raspberry, Cornflower, and After Midnight. 

Once you've created your card, you can add it to the InLinkz located HERE. You could win a gift card to the My Favorite Things online store worth up to $20. So I'm just gonna leave THAT right there!

Vicki Parson went MFT challenge crazy with this great card. Of course, the colors are from Color Challenge 49, but she also submitted this to earn her Camp Create — Fantastic Foiling badge, Sketch 289, as well as our MFT 10th Birthday Celebration Bonus Challenge. Talk about killing FOUR birds with one beautiful stone!

Dana Joy's trendy design fulfills Color Challenge 49 beautifully as well as Sketch 289. I absolutely aDORE her use of the Chevron Fringe Die-namics.

And NOW it's time to announce the winner of the MFT 10th Birthday Celebration Bonus Challenge! We were seriously wowed by the creativity of the participants. But before we announce the winner, I wanted to share a few fun projects that were submitted for the bonus challenge:

Tina Pavlovic created a 10th birthday card featuring foiling from Camp Create Session Two and stamps from the Beary Special Birthday stamp set.

Ashwini emulated this card that Yoonsun Hur created using ten flower and leaf stamps from the Modern Blooms stamp set and the sentiment includes 9 die cut letters and an exclamation point to equal another 10.

Becky Noelle's design features a flamboyance of 10 fantastic flamingos! She used the Tickled Pink stamp set and Flamingos Die-namics to create this totally fun and summery design.

An MFT 10th Birthday Celebration Bonus Challenge!

This month My Favorite Things is celebrating our 10th birthday, and we couldn't pass up having YOU join us since you're the heart of making us what we are today! In honor of our birthday, we're issuing a bonus challenge to you.

We know you love our sketch and color challenges! But this one will be a little different. Our bonus challenge is centered around the number 10. Here's how you can join us:

Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc., that include the number 10 in some way.

The ever inspiring My Favorite Things Creative Team is always good for some creative inspiration. Here are a couple of ideas of what we're looking for:

In this card, Yoonsun has incorporated ten stamps from the You're Rawr-some stamp set - three dinosaurs, three tufts of grass, two palm trees, and two sentiments.

Barbara gets right to the point with 10 festive candles using the Make a Wish Card Kit. This card kit is sold out, but the stamps and Die-namics will be available in a future release!

You have until Wednesday, July 20th, at noon EDT to add your link and be eligible for the prize of up to $20 in MFT Cash to be spent in the MFT boutique.
